How to design your SMS Wall
In this page we will teach you the basics of wall design. Remember that your wall can be projected to a white surface or displayed on LCD. Your design should relate to the event you hold and it should be tasty, so you can grow your audience to ensure a perfect message flow.
We will change the current wall design. You can see the current wall design on Figure 1. Every wall design option can be found at the same place. Please choose 'Background settings' on the home page (Figure 1).
STEP 1: Showing your contact info on the wall
The most important thing regardless how your wall looks like is to share the contact information of your SMS Wall to your audience. This can be a phone number or an URL depending on the event's infrastructure and the SMS wall setup.
If you are accepting SMS messages, we advise this setup or
if you are using an URL, we advise this setup.
You can share both (phone number and URL) to reach a wider audience.
To get back to the learning curve you should be at the 'Background settings' window where the priority is to change the header text to your contact info (Figure 2) You can also change the color and font size of the header text and on the top of all you can position it on the wall. You can also decide to share your contact info with a different method and choose not the display the header text on the wall. These other methods can be verbal communication, writing it out on an extra big display or sharing the phone number and/or URL on your group page. You can also combinate these with the wall display.
Save settings by scrolling down clicking 'Ok' then go back to 'Home' page (Figure 2) and check results (Figure 3).
STEP 2: Change background
You have probably noticed that the example wall is not stylish enough, this is why we are going to change the background. To do this go back to 'Background settings'.
You should find yourself on the wall designing page, which is always the first step for wall designing. You can select the background from the 'Background image' scrollbox (Figure 4). If you are done scroll down and click 'Ok'.
When scrolling down you probably noticed that you can add your own backgrounds by uploading them to Ozeki SMS Wall. This is very helpful to adjust the design to the theme of your event.
You are probably curious how it looks like (Figure 5), so click on 'Home' from the left side menu.
STEP 3: Change welcome messages
Welcome messages are the first messsages shown on your wall. The importance of welcome messages lies in their main purpose, to start the message flow from your guests. A well composed welcome message can make your guests more curious about the event, so they will post more on your SMS wall.
On Figure 5 (above) there are default welcome messages in the following order:
- 'Welcome to Ozeki SMS Wall! Now you can display SMS messages on a projector'
- 'All you need to do is to setup a connection to the mobile network'
- 'Your audiance will love this way of communication. Give it a try!'
Have you ever thought of changing these? It is important to modify them to make them relate to your event. You can also give your guests a friendly welcome if you know more about them. For example if you know where they came from. However if you do not know your guests, simply by relating your message to your event can give them a huge greeting.
Now we will show you how to change it. If you are on the main page of Ozeki SMS Wall click on 'Message settings' from the left side menu (Figure 6).
On the bottom of the new page you will see a 'Welcome messages' box. Here you can delete, modify or create new welcome messages (Figure 7 - 1.). For deleting and creating you can use buttons but for modifying you need to click on the message you would like to modify and rewrite it. You can also modify the order of the messages by changing the order number. When creating a new message you can add order number to it. The order number is important to determine the welcome message sequence.
If you have modified your welcome messages, click on the 'Home' button (Figure 7 - 2.) to go back to the home page.
Do not be scared that you still see the default welcome messages. This is perfectly normal. First click on the button called 'Show welcome' (Figure 8) to make your freshly written welcome message visible. Since showing the welcome messages have stopped the SMS wall you need to restart it by clicking the green 'Start' button.
STEP 4: Change font and balloon colors
The wall design looks ready but as an additional option you can change the color of the messages and message balloons. To do this select 'Background settings' from the left side menu (Figure 9).
Please scroll down to the 'Balloon color settings' and 'Font color settings' boxes. Here you can change the balloon and font colors you would like to see on your wall. When you are ready click 'Ok' to save changes (Figure 10). Finally scroll up and click 'Home' to see your changes.
Look at the changes we made (Figure 11). You can do similar changes.
Now we will show you the difference between the default SMS wall (STEP 1) and the modified SMS wall (STEP 4) (Figure 12)
